Olio Bello Story
Olio Bello Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is grown and pressed on our 320 acre property situated in the beautiful Margaret River region of Western Australia's South West. We are surrounded by dramatic natural beauty where our olives thrive in an ideal Mediterranean climate and our award winning olive oils reflect a long-term labour of love and commitment to sustainable agriculture and organic farming principles.
Our story began with an extraordinary vision when an American couple, Jack & Sue Witkin, searched the world to find the perfect place to create a sustainable retreat and found it here, on an old cattle farm in Cowaramup – now, Olio Bello. They developed a vibrant ecosystem and revegetated the property planting thousands of native trees, shrubs and a veritable, organic orchard. Olives were introduced in 1992 and their dream became a reality - and one that we all enjoy, today.
During this time, over 8000 trees, comprising 14 different olive cultivars, were planted, with varieties from all over the world.. Our first olives were harvested in 1998 and Olio Bello has steadily gained industry recognition to become one of the most awarded, boutique producers of organic extra virgin olive oil in Australia.
Today, proudly West Australian owned, Olio Bello offers a dynamic tasting room, gourmet farm shop and produce, a popular Mediterranean alfresco café and luxury Lakeside Glamping accommodation.
As our name suggests, Olio Bello produces simply beautiful oil. Visitors from around the world continue to discover how soil, climate, tradition and passion, combine to create world-class products and a signature Margaret River gourmet and eco-tourism experience.
Our commitment to the original vision remains and grows with every year.
We thank you for your support.
